Thailand is known for its beaches, culture, and great food. However, what definitely shouldn't escape your attention is sex tourism. Pattaya was originally a small fishing village, but in the 1960s, it transformed into a mecca of nightlife. The biggest boom in pleasure-related establishments was triggered by American soldiers, who spent their free time here during the Vietnam War.

Many men claim they never cry, but when packing their suitcase to leave Pattaya, tears start welling up in their eyes. It’s true. Thailand is an amazing country, one that you can develop a deep emotional connection with.

Today, Pattaya is considered one of the most prominent sex tourism destinations in the world. Tourists come here not only for short stays but also for long-term “retirement” vacations, where they enjoy the company of local girls. It’s completely normal to see an elderly German retiree strolling in broad daylight with a beautiful 20-year-old Thai woman.

To save you from searching for information on your own, I have summarized my experiences from my trip to Thailand in this blog. Pattaya is a place you will remember for a very, very long time. Get ready to enter a man’s paradise. :)

The Local Scene and How Sex Tourism Works

The sex industry in Pattaya is diverse and tailored to different visitor preferences. The system here operates a bit differently than in traditional red-light districts like Amsterdam or Hamburg. You pay for time and companionship, not for specific services.

Go-Go Bars

The most popular establishments are go-go bars, where dancers entertain guests with performances and often offer private companionship. Think of it as a strip club, but at very reasonable prices. Unlike in many Czechoslovak establishments, here you can touch the girls (anywhere) and even arrange private company.

I can recommend the legendary Windmill, which I’ll write about later.

Beer Bars

Many tourists head to beer bars, where you can meet local girls over a drink. These girls work in the bars, and their job is to encourage customers to spend money. Buy drinks and don’t forget to invite the lady keeping you company.

Most of the time, the evening ends with drinks and conversation, but sometimes the girl may want to leave with you for the night. In that case, you pay a “bar fine”, which compensates the establishment for lost revenue.

I had never seen such a concept before, but I found it quite appealing. It was also amusing to see desperate retirees sitting alone in bars while Thai girls buzzed around them.

Remember, if you take a girl from the bar and pay the bar fine, she is not your prostitute. You are paying for her company, not for sex. How the evening develops is up to mutual agreement.

Massage Parlors

Another popular choice is massage parlors. Yes, some offer only traditional Thai massages. But with special massages, skilled hands will make sure you leave feeling like overcooked spaghetti ;-) .

Massage parlors are on every corner, and the girls actively invite you inside. Choose the one you like and enjoy a Thai massage with a “happy ending” at a level of quality you won’t experience in Slovakia.

In Thailand, soapy massages are also very popular. The girl first washes you in a bubbly whirlpool bath, which sets the mood. Then, you lie on an inflatable mattress, and she glides over you. A happy ending is guaranteed, and some girls can be persuaded to do even more.

Street Prostitution

Freelancers, as they are called in English, are easy to find. From dusk till dawn, you just need to take a walk along the beach promenade, where you’ll see hundreds of them.

Short, tall, slim, curvy, young, old, ladyboys - whatever your heart desires. Simply approach a girl, agree on a service, and head to the hotel.

Nightclubs

Nightclubs in Pattaya operate in reverse compared to Slovakia. Here, you don't approach the girls - they come to you. And why wouldn’t they? It’s their job. If a girl shows interest in you, don’t mistake it for love - it’s about money.

Nightclubs are a great place to meet a girl who might become your “girlfriend” for a few days. Yes, I mean someone who will go on trips with you, sleep at your place, and keep you company - not out of love, but for money.

She will likely play her role so well that you won’t even mind. Just don’t fall in love!

Famous Establishments and Locations

The Windmill Club

Pattaya offers a wide range of venues that have become legendary among visitors seeking nightlife. One of the most famous is The Windmill Club, a go-go bar where you can enjoy an exclusive program if you are looking for excitement and uninhibited fun."

Many claim that it is the best venue in Pattaya. I couldn’t skip Windmill, and I have to confirm that you simply have to go there.

I opened the door and found myself in paradise - smiling waitresses, beautiful interiors, and around 50 completely naked Thai women ready to entertain you.

Soi 6

This street opened my eyes to what sex tourism really means. Imagine a 500-meter-long street lined with bar after bar. That wouldn’t be unusual—except that in front of the bars, you’ll see hundreds of scantily dressed women waving at you, smiling, and even grabbing you by the crotch to pull you inside.

Walking Street

This is the most famous and busiest street in Pattaya. However, for my taste, it is too touristy. Elderly couples and even families with children wander here late into the night, and honestly, I don’t understand them at all.

For both groups, Pattaya is a highly inappropriate vacation destination, and for children, I would even call it harmful.

Still, take a walk down this street and maybe check out a ping-pong show. A lot of negative things are written about these shows, but don’t listen to that.

People who speak negatively about this unique experience are just moralists with boring sex lives.

On Walking Street, promoters walk around with flyers advertising ping-pong shows. You pay a small entrance fee in Thai baht, and you get to see just how multifunctional the female vagina can be.

Other Streets and Venues

Other well-known locations include LK Metro, Soi Buakhao, Soi Bonkot 8, and Soi Bonkot 5.

And just like in other areas of entertainment in Pattaya, the same rule applies here: tasting once is never enough ;-) .

Hop on a bus or taxi, and in just two hours, you’ll find yourself in Thailand’s capital city.

Bangkok is a city of unlimited possibilities. You’ll find history, culture, amazing food, and plenty of entertainment for adults.

Legal and Ethical Considerations

Although prostitution is officially illegal in Thailand, in practice, authorities mostly tolerate it. The police intervene primarily in cases involving minors, scams, or other illegal activities.

However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be cautious as a sex tourist.

How to Avoid Problems?

Stick to well-known and reputable establishments, where the risk of unpleasant surprises is minimal.

Be aware of manipulative tactics. Some girls use different tricks to get more money from you.

Never hand over your passport (even if asked for "registration") and don’t flash large amounts of cash.

If you spend time with a girl in your hotel room, don’t leave valuables or money unattended.

Always remember: Not every smile is sincere, and it’s always worth staying cautious.

When engaging in these kinds of experiences, safety and discretion are key.

With a bit of caution and respect, you can fully enjoy Pattaya without unnecessary trouble.
